Check out the awesome results (click the above to enlarge) of a client shoot with Nadia Cheema. Our model and client, Komal, is such a striking lady...and has a killer wardrobe to boot (the outfits we used were all her own!)!! Love!

I think pics like these would make great gifts for your sweetheart on Valentine's Day, no? One thing's for sure - femme fatale Komal's definitely breaking hearts with these pics! :)

The second set from our Grimms' fairy tale themed shoot is now up under the Fashion section of rhiaamio.com. Rapunzel was hands down my favourite theme of that day; I loved the hair, make-up (ok slight bias!), styling and of course the finished product!! Everyone did such an amazing job while still having fun on set. I'm very excited to see what Teama Cheema comes up with for 2010! xo!

I love doing shoots with Nadia Cheema aka Nads - the creative juices get to flow and we just understand each other! She's a truly talented photographer, and I'm happy to call her a friend as well.
Ok, getting back to our latest collabo! The theme behind this shoot was Grimm's Fairy Tales. Now I don't know if you've ever read the original Grimm's tales, but the stories are quite the opposite of the Disney-everyone-lives-happily-ever-after versions. Just saying - something to think about....and now, here's something to look at - check out the Snow White set in the Fashion section of rhiaamio.com! :)

side note:
We did 2 other Grimm's inspired looks that long, but awesome, day with Teama Cheema. I think my favourite look of the day was Rapunzel. I'll be posting the rest as soon as I get them...stay tuned! :)

This 'crushed' shoot is probably one of my most favourite shoots to date! Thanks to a stellar team of Nads and Giselle for their amazing and hard work. I had the rough ideas of adding these looks to my book, but Nads truly helped this concept come to life, and kicked it up a notch with styling et al. Thanks, Nads :)

Check out the set on artistrhi.com and of course...let me know what you think!

Slightly biased I know, but I love this set! Our gorgeous model, Izabella, was the perfect chameleon for the multitude of looks we did with her. (But really, just look at her - the lady can pull off pretty much anything!)

We did three different hair and make-up looks, along with three jewelry changes (the beautiful hand-crafted pieces are courtesy of 3 Shahs). Nadia was behind the lens working her magic once again and Fabs was on hair duty. The amazing results of the shoot are direct results of the amazing contributors!

Go Team-a Cheema - can't wait to see what we do next :)

What a fun day this shoot was! I inhaled so many feather dustballs (is there such a thing? you know what I mean!) in preparation for this shoot that I was beginning to think I wouldn't be able to pull the concept off. The make-up here was pretty involved, and I thank everyone that worked on this shoot for their patience. (My end took the most time even though I tried to do some prep beforehand!) Coming up with awesome images is one thing, but the opportunity to work with talented and fun professionals is always a real treat!

Here are some behind the scenes pics that didn't make the final portfolio cut (thanks Nads and Cisya for these pics! I think!):

feathers. it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Cisya and Nads makin' it worrrk!

Teama Cheema!

Besides...what's the point if it's not fun?

Check out artistrhi.com for updates in the creative section! The inspiration for this look was my eyebrows circa 1990. (Umm, can you say drag queen?! I love the pencil thin eyebrow look - part of me kind of wishes it would come back!) Ok but really, the inspiration behind this shoot was derived from the 1930s and the fabulous flapper era. I love the movement that Nadia captured and Katie conveyed in the photo above - yay Teama Cheema!! See more from the Behind the Scenes here.

Check out the latest camera phone behind-the-scenes snaps of a Teama Cheema photoshoot! The inspiration behind this creative was the runway look from Dior Spring/Summer 2008. Yes, I know feathers have been done many a time, but I thought it would be an interesting challenge for myself and a neat addition to the portfolio. My sincere thanks to the wonderful team that made this all happen - this could not have been accomplished without everyone's talent and patience!

Miranda - makin' it worrk!

Rashel - always on point!

some of my prep work for the shoot! I was up to my elbows in feathers these past few weeks!

Stay tuned for the finished product! I'll post them as soon as I can :)

Katie rockin' the pencil thin brows plus jewels on the eyelids look. You know, just adorned in her usual Sunday's best ;)

Just capped off an amazingly busy week of make-up with a Team Cheema photoshoot (which always makes for a fantastic ending to the week)! Our two models are faces you may find familiar from having worked with them in the past: the gorgeous Katie and the lovely Ada!

The hair and make-up prep was done at Fiorio (Yonge/St. Clair) for a good 4 hours, and then we headed off to the studio to meet up with Nads. The theme of the shoot was a 1920s/1930s theme, so a key element to the make-up look I attempted was pencil thin brows. Now, instead of having to make our lovely models sacrifice their naturally gorgeous arches, I used a combo of glue, concealer, foundation AND powder to cover the brows, so that I could re-draw them on pencil thin. Fabs aka Fabio Persico did a wicked job on hair once again; I wish I could learn from him by osmosis! I loved the overall look we achieved here, so I made sure to get a couple of snaps with my camera phone (in other words, resolution quality isn't at its finest but you get the point!):

Closer-up view of the thinned out brows + individual jewels placed on the lashline (yes, I'm slightly biased, but I love this look!)

Ada workin' the thin brows plus feathers

@studio: Team Cheema and Ada (elongating those legs)!

Awesome shoot today! Now, to catch up on emails and blogging :) Stay tuned for more pics!!

Check out the gorgeous results from a recent creative done with the talented Miss Cheema and her beautiful friend, Jess. Good laughs and great photos with these ladies! Thankfully no one had a camera to catch me behind the scenes with my delayed reaction, as I dropped the fan (that we were using for a wind-blown hair look) and then watched in horror as it danced across the floor. Yeah, you had to be there, but my sides were aching so much from all the laughing that was going on that day! Thanks ladies for letting me take part!

Aside from pushing one's artistic boundaries, one of the best things about doing creatives is meeting great friends that share the same interests as you. I've worked with this super team (Nadia, Fabio, and Cisya) before and simply put - it's always just so much fun when they're around! Even through long hours, everyone puts forth their effort to achieve the ultimate goal of producing a gorgeous image (while still managing to have fun on set!). My work benefits greatly from all the efforts and talents of this super team (in other words - thanks guys!)

Check out some of the behind the scenes photos courtesy of Issha Marie, one of Nadia's assistants on the shoot and a talent behind the lens herself! See Issha's full write-up (and more behind the scenes pics) on the shoot here...just a sneak preview until the finished images are ready! Can't wait!

Here's my make-up area. Issha managed to make me look neat! (Other people beg to differ).

You're going to have to pardon the behind the scenes photos of me. For future note-to-self, I have to be more cognizant of the faces I make when I think other people aren't watching. Those poor models - who put up with my face in their face all day long!

Check out artistrhi.com for photos from a recent creative shoot done outdoors. It was a super cold day, but you wouldn't be able to tell with the poise from our models! The shoot would not have been possible without the efforts and talents of the super team I'm fortunate to work with. Thanks guys - can't wait to do it again!

What better way to celebrate the beginning of a New Year than with a new look! You can go dramatic and drastically change hair and make-up, or be more subtle with a slight trim and an update to your beauty routine. Here are some tips to be your best you in 2009 (the text is re-printed below each photo for ease of reading or click on the photo for the full-size view):HAIR: Always have some idea of what look you’re after when going into get your haircut. Look through magazines for desired looks. There are plenty of options out there, but be realistic about hair colour, hair texture and skin tone when scanning for looks you might be interested in. Keep in mind how much change you’ll be comfortable with - a new look works best when the person wearing it wears it with confidence!

MAKE-UP: For make-up, flip through magazines for a look you like. Don’t be afraid to bring in a pic of your desired make-up look, and have your make-up artist/beauty consultant help you find those colours. At many make-up counters, you can schedule a free make-over when you purchase a minimum amount of product (usually $45). Bring a hand mirror with you to view how each stage of the application process happens during your make-up appointment. Use it as an opportunity to learn some new techniques and don’t be afraid to ask any questions you have.

HAIR: I’d leave the actual haircutting to the hands of the pros, but why not try styling hair a bit differently? Add some loose curls. Part it on the side, rather than in the middle. If you always wear it up, wear it down one day and vice versa. It’s a small, subtle change that gets noticed - all without having to cut a strand!

MAKE-UP: Experiment and have fun with make-up! If you’re a natural beauty, try intensifying your look by adding some deeper eyeshadow and lipstick colours to the mix. If you always wear a darker eye look, do the inverse - go bold on the lips and use a light hand on the eyes. You can try as many looks as you like to narrow in on what you feel best in, and the beauty of it is that it all washes off! Put those make-up gift sets and gift cards you received for Christmas to good use and treat yourself to a new look!

You always get better results when you can predict outcomes. If you allow a hairstylist or make-up artist creative freedom, then be prepared for a style that they see on you (which may be something that you absolutely love or something that you totally hate!). Have your examples of desired looks in tow to help communicate what you want to your stylist.
